Scramble at Beatrice
Beatrice, NE - Monday in the first round of play at Beatrice Country Club, the first round of competition for the 2015 Four-Woman Scramble took place. Leading with a net 53.65 is the team of Julie Hall, Belinda Rude, Teresa Coyle, and Sally Bryson. They face off with the team of Doretta Rowse, Linda Fry, Mary Duffy, and Peg Starman who shot a first day score of 55.80. The second and final round begins at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 1. Marchese Claims 5th Seniors Title
Omaha, NE - The 2015 Seniors State Stroke Play Championship wrapped up on Wednesday at Happy Hollow. Defending Champion, Susan Marchese of Omaha, claimed her fifth title in the senior's event carding a three day total of 229 (76-78-75). The Happy Hollow member bested all competitors by eight strokes with Lisa Mansur of Omaha taking runner-up honors at 237(82-81-74).Marchese is now is stride with Jane Pohlman of Omaha with five senior's titles herself; Pohlman finished tied for third with Julie Hall of Norfolk each with a 243. McCook, NE - The 2015 Four-Ball Tournament conclude Tuesday July 28 at Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook. An exciting finish as the team of Michelle Gill of Norfolk and Connie Gohl of McCook tied with Janis Sculley of Osceola and Kathy Dubas of Palmer each carded a 130 net score. Gill, a previous Heritage Hillls member, had a five-foot putt to win the hole and did so carding a net birdie on the hole and winning the event for their team. A pair of UNO players, Megan Vetrovsky of McCook and Makenna Kroeker of Lincoln took top gross honors with a 142 (70-72). Results
Bobbie Hopp Challenge
The second day of the 2015 Bobbie Hopp Challenge at Fremont Golf Club is complete. 36 teams competed in six flights, and each team played five 9-hole matches over two days. Winners of their flights were, Sally Bryson and Teresa Coyle, Bev McKillip and Bev Guzinski, Rita Lammle and Shelley Bauer, Diane Herbolsheimer and Barb Reeves, Shelly Bartling and Dee Bang, and Joyce Braun and Bettie Butts. 2015 Match Play Championship
The top seed, Danielle Lemek of Donipan, faced off against number three seed, Amy Ahlers of Albion, for the 2015 Match Play Championship at Oakland Golf Club. Lemek started off strong and was 1 up after hole one. She never looked back. Ahlers had a small comeback after being six down after hole 10 and birdied 11, but it wasn't enough as the match went dormie on 14. Both Lemek and Ahlers had four foot birdie putts on 14, Lemek was furthest out and putted first. She sunk her putt and Lemek named champion winning 5 & 4. In the first flight, Felicia Hutnick defeated Julie Hall 3 & 2. In the Second Flight Bev McKillip defeated Shelly Bartling 3 & 1. In the Third Flight Connie Boeka defeated Nita Totten 3 & 2. Lemek, Back-to-back champion
The 2015 NWAGA State Amateur Championship wrapped up Wednesday at North Bend Golf Course. Winning back-to-back titles was Danielle Lemek of Donipahn, who carded a 71 in the final round of competition at a 3 under total for the three-days with a 207 (68-68-71). Placing second is Husker Sophmore, Audrey Judd, carding a two-under today at 68 with a three-day total of 216 (80-68-68). Bested by her teammate in todays competition, was Sarah Pravacek total of 222 (77-72-73). Amy Ahlers, Concordia Junior was one stroke off pace from Pravacek, placing fourth with a 223(80-70-73). Lemek, Three-Peat Champion
Lincoln, NE - At Hidden Valley Golf Club, the two-day Stroke Play Tournament participants, watched as defending champion, Danielle Lemek of Doniphan, finished strong to claim her third straight Stroke Play Championship. Lemek, the Bradley University Junior, finished three-under with a 141(69-72), squeaking past Morgan Smejkal of Columbus, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Junior, who carded a 70 in todays round to finish two-under with a 142 (72-70). In the final four holes, Smejkal finished birdie, birdie, eagle, bogey while Lemek finished par, par, birdie, par. Complete results below.
